Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon
The day started at 4am. Following my usual race routine, took a nice warm shower, had a quick breakfast and off I went to meet Shah and Andrew. This is my first time taking public transport to a race. It's looks like the daily work peak hours. PACKED!
Well, we have discussed that for the SCM we will do a fun run of 21km
The highlight of the morning is by having Shah wear a tag specially made for him

The race started with a human crowd and took us 10mins to reach the start point. The race began with up and down slopes from sentosa, human jam at Palawan beach, more jam at RWS and even more jams at the slopes from Sentosa. People are practically walking throughout the entire journey at Sentosa. Think they're all totally tired. I was definately tired. I took 2hours just to complete 10km. =(
But thanks to the crowd, many people were giving Shah well wishes for his wedding on 10.11.12
Anyway, back to the run,
Once, we exited Sentosa, great another welcoming slope from AYE-ECP. At least it was not as crowded as in Sentosa, well at least. Managed to clear the human jam this time round. Without much blocking, I managed to climb up and down the expressway. I think this is my most longest time to completer a 21km. I think I took approximately 2.50mins to complete it.
Overall Review
- Water points were bad! - Isotonic beverage station with no isotonic drink. If there is, it is concentrated.
- Gel station, couldn't even get one.
- Bad strategic location for water points
- Maybe it's time to limit the number of participants? - First come first served basis?
- I think we need to improve on our management of mega events.

Dinosaurs LIVE
Visted Dinosaurs Live! in Singapore on the 19/11/11.
Well as Science Centre is so near my house, I decided to take a look at this exhibit. I was quite impressed by the Shark Show that Science Centre brought in previously and I'm very eager to take a look at this exihibit.
Overall, I think they did quite an impressive job for Dinosaurs Live!
The environment was very realistic and so were the dinosaurs. You can even touch the dinosaurs!
The hand-work of the dinosaurs are so well done, I would rate it 10/10.
Check out my photos below

Charity @ MRT/Bus Stop raising awareness
Remember the last time when you walk past the MRT/Bus stop, someone approached you and say they are not selling anything?
They stop you, show you their clip board and you realise it's a charity home or some other forms of charity info.
Their first statement would be, "Hi Sir, I'm not trying to sell you anything..."
After "selling" the sales pitch to you, they will flip to the next page and ask you to fill up a form and ask you to donate money.
I really wonder if they are really doing this out of creating awareness. Like credit cards road shows, the guys will tackle the female and vise versa. Strategic or not, I'm not so sure.
Even your dressing plays a part. With the same "salesperson", if you are dressed in your formal wear they will approach you. If you are dressed in t-shirt and shorts they ignore you.
Talk about creating awareness.
If this really for awareness or for sales commission?
Only they know.
Not that I'm doubting the creditability of the charity home, but is this the correct way to raise awareness? Should the campaign be like that?
You be the judge...

We Run SG 10K
Nike - We Run SG 10K Race Report
I dragged myself out of bed as my alarm rang at 5.30am. Had a bad flu for the past 2 days prior to the run. My nose was dripping badly and was sneezeing from morning till i sleep. So I had problem resting.
Took a quick shower, made breakfast (Peanut Butter and Wholemeal Bread), watch a little cartoon to boost my morale (South Park)
Was supposed to pick Lattifah at 6.15am but managed to pick her up 6.30am. (Note to self: LATE!)
Picked Shah up at 6.50 (Note to self: VERY LATE!)
Time to meet Wille, Doreen and Soo Hai: 6.45am (DIE!)
When we reached Kallang @ 7.15am, we were late but still able to make it for Wave 2 which starts at 7.30am.
Lucky for us, we managed to find a carpark quickly. Phew! lucky lucky.
As we were late, we quickly proceeded to the race pit. To make things more panicky the Start Point was not at the Stage area. We had to make a detour (almost 600m away) just to get into the Starting Line. The path was narrow, muddy, and jammed packed with humans but it's fine, the company counts.
We proceeded to the gantry and off we went to begin our run.
We ran together and took photos for the first 2km and we are on our own after which. We went to the toilet at Suntec (erm...Cleaner?? Doubt So :s) HAHA!
For me, I find this run very fustrating. I have to constantly asked to be excused to overtake. I had to zig zag just to move ahead. Participants should really read the booklet carefully. Walking should be on the left side of the road and not the middle and right. Not that I am picky about the problem but the constant reminder of telling people gets really fustrating and Zig Zag running tires you out quickly. Oh well, I'm not trying to break my PB for 10km here so doesn't matter.

The only part that I liked was a tunnel near Nicole Highway. The organiser placed a DJ there and blasted music. From far, I could hear the echo of the music and I find it very cool. I ran that route for at least 3 times and only Nike managed to pull this off. Great job!

"Hope NEW BALANCE REAL RUN will be better on 16 Oct 11"
Overall Review
- Considering the number of people participating, it's well organised. We are talking about 22,000 participants
- Ample Voluneteers
- Will I join this next year.... Mmm, No Idea.
- Always proceed further into water point area. People like to go to the nearest point. The further ones usually have cups that are filled with water

Japan 2011
Booking for my Japan trip has been made.
I'll will be taking Singapore's National Carrier as Budget Airlines rates are similar to SQ and I would need to transit somewhere as well.
I did a little homework on the lodging and decided to go for Hundred Stay Tokyo Shinjuku. Yes Yes, Many people asked why I did not choose the Capsule Hotel? Well my answer is pretty shallow. LOL. The rates for Capsule Hotel is almost as expensive as Hundred Stay Tokyo. Why not get a proper hotel? Don't ask me again
Check out TripAdvisor reviews. Almost 5/5
